About Us
Joseph Jackson President and Owner of J Jackson Consultants, LLC has over Thirty-Eight years experience in the Land Surveying Profession, beginning shortly after High School. During that time Mr. Jackson has worked for numerous Civil Engineering and Land Surveying Companies as a Field Crew Chief. Mr. Jackson was also a partner in Conover Jackson Surveying, LLC
Mr. Jackson is a graduate of ICS correspondence course is Surveying and Mapping,1990. An Associates in Applied Science Degree in Engineering with the Land Surveying Option,1996. An Associates in Science Degree in Business,2010.
Mr. Jackson is also a FAA Certified UAV Pilot.
Mr. Jackson is an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Army. As a Battalion Survey Section Chief he led teams of field artillery surveyors during field artillery survey operations. J Jackson Consultants is 100% Veteran Owned Company. Aerial data acquisition is our specialty for Land Surveyors and Engineers
The Technical Stuff
With an eye toward the future J Jackson Consultants, LLC has acquired a Phantom 4 RTK UAV in 2020 to go along with Leica Geosystems Robotic Total Station, Carlson 2 Receiver GPS System and other Land Surveying equipment to stay ahead of the technology curve.

What I Need From You to Process Quotes
"KML Files"
Creating a “KML File”
When requesting a quote for Drone Services I will need two “KML Files” that can be created in Google Earth. The first one should be of the approximate boundary of the project site. The reason for this “KML” is for setting GCPs and Check Points etc. In today’s security conscience climate adjoining property owners get antsy about people they do not know entering their property. Getting arrested for trespassing is a non-starter.
The second “KML File” is of the overall project site with the very important overlap of the Site this is the “KML File” that will be used for price quotes and the Flight Plan.
For those who are not familiar with creating “KML Files” in Google Earth. Open Google Earth and zoom into the location of the jobsite. Find the “Add Polygon” button on the ribbon above the imagery and click on it. This allows you to create a closed polygon of your site. After creating the polygon click on the “Style, Color” button and choose the color red from the color palette. To change the line width from one to three. Then click on the dropdown menu in the “Area” portion of the “New Polygon” box and choose “Outlined” and give your polygon a name “Boundary” etc. Then click okay to close box. Now you will want to save your new polygon. Right click on the polygon and a dialogue box opens up. Left click on the “Save Place As” and a “Save File” opens up as normal when saving other files and save polygon to your job folder. Use the same procedure for the overall site with overlap polygon but with a blue outline and same line width.
Type: of survey whether it be Topography survey, N.S.P.S. ALTA survey, Road Cross-Sections, etc.
Scale of drawing, i.e.., 1" =30'
Contour interval, i.e.., 1 Foot interval for topography.
Price Quotes
All quotes will consist of two tiers:
Tier One - Release of Flight and Aerial Photography: Payment will be considered authorization to proceed. Once payment is received the flight will be put on the schedule.
Tier Two - Will be for the Final Deliverables and payment is required at that time.
Please take note when requesting a Quote: Be specific as to what you need ie.,
Topography with planimetrics and contour interval, all line work etc..
Alta Surveys- A copy of Table A with all project requirements to be checked off, etc..
Please Be Advised : In order to best serve you and your client's needs call us for a quote while you are preparing a proposal for a new job, the quote will be a Lump Sum Quote
Deliverables
Option 1 - This option will be most advantageous for those companies that have Cad Tech's on their staff who are familiar with working with Point Clouds and the software that can handle Point Cloud processing.
Option 2 - This option will work best for those companies that have Cad Tech's on their staff that are not familiar with Point Cloud processing or, do not have the software to handle Point Cloud processing.
Option- 1 Deliverables
Deliverables will consist of the following files: 1- Adjustment Report.
2- Colored DEM (JGW File)
3- Colored DEM (JGP File).
4- DEM (TFW File).
5 DEM Compressed File).
6- Dense Point Cloud (Compressed File).
7- Report (PDF).
8- Texture Mesh Compressed File).
Service Area
Currently the service area for J Jackson Consultants LLC Aerial Mapping and Surveying Services is from I-195 to the North and Cape May Point to the South and from the Delaware River on the West and to the Atlantic Ocean on the East.
